Omega Supp  tm

Omega-3 fatty acids are a group of essential polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are essential because they are required for the body to function properly, but cannot be synthesised by the body. This means that they must be supplied in the diet.

Omega-3 fatty acids have a number of vital functions in the immune system, inflammation, reproduction, growth, skin and coat health, the heart, kidneys, joints etc. They are needed from foetal development right through to the ageing process in older animals.

Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are precursors of a group of mediators of inflammation and immunity, the eicosanoids. Omega-3 fatty acids are anti-inflammatory, and omega 6 pro-inflammatory. The chain of production for omega-6 fatty acids uses the same enzymes as that for omega-3. Consequently, there is competition for these enzymes between omega-3 and omega-6.

In both dogs and cats, the ideal ratio is considered to be five times as much omega-6 as omega-3. In practice, in the case of both humans with a Western diet and pets with kibble, their plates and bowls are often very imbalanced and contain far too much omega-6 (commonly 15/1 or even 20/1!). This promotes a pro-inflammatory state and increases the risk of certain diseases.

With some diseases (renal or cardiac), the recommended ratio is 1/1, i.e. the same amount of both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

USE

EPA and DHA are essential for skin, heart, kidney, joint, liver, brain and immune functions. EPA and DHA are essential components of all cell membranes. They are involved in the mechanisms of inflammation by reducing proinflammatory mediators.

I am the proud owner of a French bulldog named Blanco. Like many bulldogs, he has a fragile health and frequent skin problems. In order to strengthen his immune system and protect his skin barrier, I started giving him Omega Supp™ from Miloa laboratory several weeks ago.

Since Blanco has been taking Omega Supp™ daily, I have noticed significant improvements. His skin is much less irritated, and his itching has reduced considerably. In combination with the tablets, I also shampoo Blanco with Ultra Pure™ shampoo. His coat has become shinier and appears healthier.

He seems more comfortable and happy, and I'm convinced this combo plays a crucial role in strengthening his immune system and in protecting his skin. The fact that the ingredients are of natural origin is a big advantage in my view, because I always want the best for my dog’s health.

Tchyco arrived in a very thin state at the Noah’s Ark shelter in August 2023. He was only 2 and a half years old. He had many symptoms which suggested that he was ill: several skin lesions, very pale mucous membranes, lameness, very damaged eye area, anorexia.

Volunteering at the shelter, I immediately fell in love with him. Quickly, my family and I became his new family for life. It was important to quickly offer him a calm environment, a suitable diet and a lot of love to help him get back on his feet. He was quickly seen by a veterinarian to make a diagnosis.

Very quickly, the verdict came, Tchyco was suffering from Leishmaniasis with kidney failure already well advanced. This disease, present in the Mediterranean region, is not encouraging. It is transmitted by the bite of a sandfly (a mosquito) and is incurable (a vaccine exists, prevention is essential). The parasites actually travel in the dog's blood and can attack the skin, organs and joints.

Treatments have been implemented. Every month, a blood test is taken: his progress is incredible. At present (February 2024), he has gained more than 6 kg, he has a nice coat, he no longer limps and the contours of his eyes have become more beautiful. He is living his best life with daily walks, games and petting. However, his kidneys remain sick. Despite a specific kidney diet, his kidneys are permanently damaged and we must supplement him with Reno Pro™ and Omega Supp™ in order to help him as much as possible.

We are extremely grateful to Miloa for doing everything possible to provide the most beautiful life to Tchyco.
